Many tales of Black excellence began at the United States’ 107 historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs). These institutions of higher learning provided educational opportunities for Black Americans who were disbarred from enrolling at other predominantly White-serving institutions prior to 1964. Join Black Graduate Student Association and the Equity and Inclusion in Engineering Program for a screening of Tell Them We Are Rising and explore the rich history of America’s first Black Universities. Following the movie, a fun and information trivia event tying HBCUs to important figures and events in Black culture will be held, with opportunities for prizes! Pizza and popcorn will be served.
